About Phil
Philip Noel Eastick was born in South Australia in 1954 to Dr. Bruce Charles and Mary Dawn (nee Marsh) Eastick. He was the second of four children and attended Gawler Primary and Gawler High before studying law at the University of Adelaide. Just before completing his degree he left study to begin a successful career on the road in the entertainment industry. This career change led him to relocate to Melbourne and Sydney in the mid to late 1970s.
While touring the United States in 1982 he met Robin Tourville and relocated to San Francisco. They married soon after. Phil started his own company Quick Cargo in 1988, after working for Allfreight from 1984-88.
Around 1989 Phil’s health began to fail after an allergic reaction to antibiotics and he required dialysis while awaiting a kidney transplant. Due to the US healthcare system, in 1992 there was no option but to return to Australia with his wife and young daughter to receive appropriate care.
Thankfully he received a transplant soon after and decided to change careers to become an IT and Multimedia consultant. He had many successes and made a large impact on the future of information technology in South Australia.
Phil’s transplant failed after many years and he began dialysis once again, somehow managing to still work full time to support his family. He received another transplant on Boxing Day 2008 which unfortunately caused further complications. He was hospitalised in November of 2009 and passed away in February of 2010.
Dates and achievements are easy to list but to know Phil was truly a gift. His willingness to share knowledge, his commitment to his family and friends, his broad range of interests and experience are all things those who knew him are grateful for and greatly miss.
